Umekes & Keiki of the Aina Playlist of : Making the Kona Homeless Thanksgiving Dinner 2014

Umekes Kona with Hunting Club, Keiki of the Aina collaberated together to put together their annual Feed the Homeless Holiday Luau complete menu with drinks of water and juice to blankets, clothes and toys, even shoes!  It was a true blessing for the weather has started to drop in temperature at night in Kailua-Kona Hawaii and those blankets cleared that table quickly.  Plus the children had toys and stuffed animals and books even the dogs got in on the action with stuffed animals to throw around too.  It was a day to give back to the less fortunate and to share the bounty and blessings of the past year with those in need.  Owner, Chef Nakoa Pabre, is the winner of Sam Choy's Poke competition 2013 and 2014 and also had his restaurant, Umekes, featured on Chef Garvin's Cooking Channel on the Food Network, has been organizing and sharing with the Kailua-Kona Homeless for the past two years or more.  Chef Pabre also coordinated a huge POKE for PUNA campaign and gave away 500lbs of Poke and hot rice and drinks to the people of Kona.   It was great to see the Homeless so happy to have a Thanksgiving dinner for their was a few parents who had their children and pets with them and it was a chance to give thanks for someone didn't completely forget them.  Big Thanks go out to Umekes, Chef Nakoa Pabre and Hunting Club, Keiki of the Aina, the students of Kealakehe and Konawaena serving the food to the homeless and the Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union's Student board.  All in all it was a gorgeous day to celebrate the fruits of our labor and share that with the less fortunate.  Chef Nakoa Pabre is also collecting brand new bikes and toys for PRESENTS for PUNA.  So please stop by his restaurant at Alii Plaza on the corner of Hualalai and Kuakini St. and drop off a new child's bike to help this Holiday season for those who's homes were taken away by the Hurricane Iselle.   Mahalo nui please stop by and like Umekes Facebook page and like, comment and share.  Please share this article with your friends as a way to say Mahalo to the community that we live in as we need to take care of each other because sometimes we are all that we have: EACH OTHER!  Umekes is open Monday through Saturday 10am to 8pm 1-808-329-3050   www.umekespoke808.com  and for those mobile users  http://m.umekeskona.com
